Before I actually start, I just want to brief you on what this program involves…

WELLA and UNICEF UK & VIETNAM have collaborated, to help a selected group of 25 young people 14-29yrs generally from district 8.- the more poverty stricken district of Vietnam.

WELLA have carefully through a very intense selection process, selected 7 mentors globally. one from Italy; two from Spain, one from new Zealand, one from Australia, one from Scotland and one from the southwest of England (myself). also a WELLA educator from Sweden, and a project coordinator from Ireland and of course the project manager from Switzerland. -quite a diverse fun team, huh? 🙂

I have to comment here on a personal level, I believe I have made friends for life! We are all strong individuals; with a very defined clear passion for the hair dressing industry, but as a team we will MAKE WAVES undoubtedly.

So our brief is to conduct demonstrations for the young people, giving them the gift of the highest performed education. However completely personalised to them so their understanding of services and communication is clear. We then perform the demonstration of the particular area of hairdressing we are teaching that session in front of the all the students.Then 1-2-1 tuition, with a high level of understanding and support given to them all times. All the training centre teachers are attending the sessions, so when the program is over with the ambassadors, they will be able to carry out the great work to a high professional standard. This is to prepare these young people for graduation in around 1 years time, where they can then use the skills provided to better there lives and find a job then earn a living.

For many of the young people, they will be taking a lot more from the program than just a very valued certificate. Yet more self confidence, happiness a proud sense of place in the world. Where as that vision may of perhaps been unclear before the program.

The whole team attended an important conference with UNICEF VIETNAM, in this conference we were given an over view of the current stats and figures of difficult situations Vietnam poses against. Furthermore the amazing positive improvements in the last 40 years to help young people. Its great what charities are doing for the country, Especially UNICEF there is so much more support given to children. Their needs for health, social support and education are being recognised and improvements are happening.  As they have identified key problems in the districts and country’s and with collaborating company’s like WELLA, They are making a difference all over the world and now brilliantly in Vietnam.

To summarise, there is actually no price or nothing more beautiful that giving Young people Hope, kindness and a future. Furthermore, I am truly honoured to say I will be making a life changing impact on a groups life, I know the other 6 mentors would back me 100% staying they feel the same.

Take a look at what’s been happening… enjoy!
