Hair Measurements

Helpful Information About Textured & Curly Hair

When referencing the length of our textured and curly hair products, please note that measurements are taken with the hair gently stretched in its dry state. This ensures a consistent and transparent representation of length.

Our aim is to provide you with ready-to-wear pieces—so there are no unexpected surprises upon arrival. Measuring the hair in its dry, stretched form helps maintain balance and proportion, even if you choose to style or smooth out the curls later. You’ll find that the final look remains true to the stated length and doesn't become uneven or excessively long.

This approach ensures your experience with our curly and textured products is seamless, natural, and confidently wearable.

Hair Length Guide

Understanding Curl Behavior & Sizing Recommendations

It's completely normal for textured or curly hair to appear longer when wet or styled smooth, and then shrink back to its natural measured length when air-dried or diffused. This is a natural characteristic of curly hair types.

At Redo U, we believe in educating our customers about the unique behaviors of hair, so you know exactly what you're buying. Transparency and trust are core to our brand.

To ensure the best experience, we recommend selecting a slightly longer length than your desired final style. This gives you the flexibility to have it professionally trimmed to your perfect fit, and also allows for future restyling—whether you want to go shorter later or maintain more volume and shape over time.

Choosing wisely now means more options later—and no surprises in between.

Length Guide

Use this hair length chart as a general reference to understand where various lengths are likely to fall on the body. Please note that exact placement may vary slightly depending on your height, body proportions, and head size.

This guide is designed to help you make the most informed decision when selecting your ideal hair length.

Hair Cutting Guide

For the best results when donating or selling your hair, one-length hair is ideal, as it’s easier to measure and provides a more consistent weight. Hair with significant layers or shorter lengths may result in less usable weight at the measured length.

Preparing Your Hair:

  • Begin by placing your hair into secure ponytails at the point where you’re comfortable having it cut—typically around bob or jaw length for most people.

  • Ensure each ponytail is tight and neatly sectioned, especially if your hair is layered. This allows for more accurate measurements and helps retain the hair's integrity during the cut.

  • Use a tape measure to determine the length from the base of the band to the ends of the hair.

What We Look For:

We assess hair based on length, weight, and colour.
To maximise value and consistency, multiple ponytails may be created during cutting to ensure greater volume at even lengths.
